I have been speaking with a debt settlement company that says month 1 - 3 the monthly payment will go towards their fees, months 4 - 16 1/2 the pymnt will go towards their fees. I understand that the money needs to accumulate before a payment can be made. But, is it common that the cc companies would wait months to receive communication regarding the settlement? I’m confused as to how this works. typically would the agency you choose to work with contact the cc companies up front, or do they wait until the funds are in the account and they go for a settlement amount?

i have 5 credit cards. 2 of them have higher interest rate and with higer amount owed. if I decide to hire a debt settlement company, can I have them settle these 2 accounts 1st while I keep paying the min amount on the rest until I have settled these 2 accounts? I suggest you speak with a few debt settlement companies but my opinion is that you should be able to include only some of your creditors debts in your settlement process while you continue to make regular payments to the others…

My husband lost his job and has gotten another but is making half of what he was. Our CC debt is over $50,000. (My husband also had colon cancer & chemo before he lost his GOOD job). I am thinking of going with Freedom Debt Relief, they are a member of BBB and have a good standing. Are they one of the good ones? and is 15% on the dollar of the money you bring in (the $50 something) a good deal?
