Everybody wants to know “Who is the best credit negotiation company?” and honestly that is not the right question to ask. You really should be asking:

“What Credit Negotiation Company is Best for Me?”

Like anything, you need to find an honest debt negotiation company that you believe is the best for you. There is no one size fits all solution or service to your debt problem. Similarly there is no easy way to determine who you should use to negotiate your debt without doing your research and talking to the companies before deciding which is right for you.

So I suggest you stop searching for debt negotiator ratings (which I don’t think exist anyway).

Then what should you look for?

Most of all you want an established company that has in house negotiators, good customer service, is run by honest professionals, is not a high pressure sales operation, and one who tells you the whole story (good and bad) of the credit negotiation process.

There are many dozens of these companies around the country and new ones are popping up every day as more and more people have credit card debt problems. The key thing to understand is that these companies are easy to set up and often attract quick buck salespeople who may or may not do a good job of servicing your account after you become a client. In fact some of them don’t service their clients at all, instead they pass your account off to another company you may not be know about who actually does the credit negotiations (the important part).

Be careful! Ask a lot of questions before signing on the dotted line. Learn about all the options available to you, do your research, and then be selective about the company you work with.

Credit card companies are all different. While they each have entire departments set up to deal with late payment accounts, credit card negotiation, and collections, they each have different standards and procedures that dictate how they deal with “troubled” credit card accounts.

Detailed debt negotiation ” how to” information is hard to come by. Yes, you can legally try to do credit card negotiation on your own, however, expect a long road with a lot of detailed (and probably frustrating) work. Remember, you are one small account to them and they deal with millions of accounts daily. It will take a lot of time and effort to get your case in front of the people who decide how to handle delinquent accounts.

The primary advantage of using a professional debt negotiation company is that they know the ins and outs of all the creditor’s negotiation procedures. On top of that they also often know the people within the credit card companies whom they need to speak with about your account (the decision makers) which can make for a much smoother process.

Those decision makers will be much more likely to speak with a reputable debt negotiation company because that company typically represents hundreds or thousands of clients whose collective debt can total many millions of dollars. Therefore the creditors are much more likely to take their phone calls and negotiate with them than they are with you.

Surely that does not mean you cannot try to do credit card negotiation yourself but be prepared for the time and effort involved.

Credit card companies are in the business of loaning money that they need paid back. They allow you to get something now and pay for it later, esentially it is a short term (usually=) loan so why would they enter into a credit negotiation to reduce the debt?

As with any loan sometimes the borrower is unable to pay the money back. When this is the case, credit negotiation is possible because the lender would rather get something vs nothing. The lender know this risk exists when they give you the credit but the profitable loans that are paid back with high interest rates outweigh the loans that default and are not paid back.

At the end of the day, credit card companies make their money off the people who either pay back the loans on time or even better, those who always pay it back late. They love people who continuously send them only the minimum payment each month because that allows the debt to grow rapidly forcing you to pay increasing amounts of interest.

If you cannot pay back everything you owe them, they will usually entertain a credit negotiation with a debt settlement company on your behalf. After all, as far as their bottom line is concerned, something is better than nothing, right?

A good debt settlement company

1. Knows the negotiation process
2. Has established relationships with the large creditors who are willing to work with them
3. Has helped thousands of clients and therefore has the experience to solve any problems that may arise

Those are 3 key reasons why choosing the right debt settlement company is so important to successfully get your creditors to reduce your debt. Here is more information on what to look for when you go to find a credit negotiation company.

Typically when you hire a debt settlement company and enroll in their program for negotiating debt, they will gather information from you in order to determine the best plan of action based on your needs and situation: Your income The amount of unsecured debt you have Who you owe money to How old your debt more »

Typically when you hire a debt settlement company and enroll in their program for negotiating debt, they will gather information from you in order to determine the best plan of action based on your needs and situation:

Your income

The amount of unsecured debt you have

Who you owe money to

How old your debt is

Based on the above information they will set up a monthly payment plan for you that will be used to pay off the negotiated amounts one by one until you are debt free. The more you can pay monthly relative to your total debt, the quicker the process will be over.

Most professional companies negotiating debt will try to have you debt free in 18-36 months, sometimes even sooner but every situation is different because every client of theirs is different.

Be wary of companies that are quick to offer you programs longer than 3 years because depending on the structure of their fees, you may end up paying a lot more to them than the industry standard debt settlement fee of around 15%.

Debt negotiation is basically another way to describe debt settlement. The negotiation is typically done by a debt settlement company and entails a process by which they reduce your debt by getting your creditors (the people who you owe the money to) to accept a smaller amount than you actually owe to satisfy your debt obligation to them.

The “negotiated” amount is called a settlement because it is a legally binding agreement that, once paid, releases you from having to pay any more than the negotiated amount.

Although it may seem odd, the debt settlement process is a negotiation in the truest sense of the word. Your creditors will look at what you offer to pay them and how soon you say you are able to pay them and then decide if they accept your offer. This process is typically done by either a lawyer or a specialized company that is in the business of helping consumers negotiate their debts down after their accounts have gone into default.

These debt settlement companies already have the established relationships with most major creditors and they understand the legal procedures and paperwork that is involved in this complicated process.
