Great website. I just wish you would give actual details about what to say and to whom, in order for an individual to be able to manage their own negotiations with their creditors….rather than having to research reputable companies and reasonable fees, & going through said company to help themselves out of debt.

Hello. You can try and negotiate debt with credit card companies on your own but it can be a long and tedious process that many people do not have the time nor the expertise to do themselves. Getting good service from the credit card companies when you call in is hard enough now imagine the effort it would take to get someone with some authority on the phone at the credit card companies. Yes, people often can call in to get their rates adjusted somewhat or get a late fee off their statement but if you are talking about negotiating the debt down due to your inability to pay, that’s much more difficult to do on your own…possible, yes, but difficult.

I am not saying do not try it but if you do so you need to be prepared for an exercise in frustration. It’s just like hiring an accountant to do your taxes, sure, you could do them yourself but many people prefer to let an expert do it to save time (and frustration).

Give it a shot, it’s worth a try.

Thanks for the compliment and the question.
